The Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at HSC Blumenau is prepared and trained to care for children who need intensive care.
The Neonatal and Pediatric ICU was inaugurated more than 15 years ago, and in March 2006, it was remodeled. Since then it has provided patients with a suitable and well-planned physical structure. Both the walls covered with wallpaper that please kids and the large windows soften the impact of intensive therapy, providing a welcoming environment for our little patients. In April 2015, the Unit was remodeled again and increased the number of beds to 10. Our Neonatal and Pediatric ICU features a state-of-the-art technology infrastructure.
The Unit has a complete medical team that is made up of: neonatologists, pediatric intensivists, cardiologists, neurologists, pediatric and cardiac surgeons. Also, our multi-professional team consists of nurses, nurse technicians, speech therapists, nutritionists, physical therapists, psychologists, and an occupational therapist. All the staff is trained to ensure the best in medical care, from extremely premature newborns (below 1,500 grams) to 14-year-olds.
Parents are allowed 24/7
To strengthen the bond between parents and baby, the hospital allows parents to be with their babies in the Neonatal and Pediatric ICU 24/7. In addition to helping babies recover, it reduces the length of hospital stay.
